Wildlife of New Zealand: Species Photographed in Nature

A listing of all wild species I have encountered in New Zealand, listed by their taxonomy categories of Class, Family, and Species (except Invertebrates, it will be a bit different). This was a visit in 2014 when I had older equipment and before I was prioritizing animal photos, so the photos aren’t quite up to my standards now. I have also included a few ones in captivity at the bottom, as I felt they should be included for reference purposes.

All photos are my own. Descriptive photos were prioritized over aesthetic ones in many cases. Every species listed without photos was seen and identified, but I was not able to take a picture at that time.

I am looking to continue this process in each location and country I visit, so I am always looking for new artist residencies, collaborations, or journeys which would provide me with that opportunity.
